EGUNGUN
Egungun is more than a masquerade; it is a bridge between the living and the ancestors.
At the centre of this work stands the Egungun, representing the presence and continuity of those who came before us. On the left is Eyo, carrying the spirit of celebration, procession, and cultural identity, while Angere stands on the right, adding another layer to the visual language of Yoruba masquerade traditions.
Below, the worshippers gather in reverence people whose prayers, devotion, and ancestral connection keep these traditions alive.
Every line and pattern in this piece speaks of memory, spirituality, community, and the enduring relationship between the living and the unseen.
EGUNGUN where the ancestors return, culture speaks, and memory lives on.
